Dr. Mercedes Aguirre Valenzuela, PT, DPT

Hello everyone!

I received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Rutgers School of Health Professions in 2020. My dedication to professional advocacy has led me to leadership roles in the APTA on a National and State level. I was the Chair of APTANJ Student Assembly (2018-2020) and the New Jersey APTA Core Ambassador (2019-2020). In March of 2020, I was honored to receive the APTA Minority Scholarship. In September, I will begin my PT career working primarily in the school and outpatient orthopedic settings.

APTA Member since 2017

NJ Chapter

Section Member: HPA, Pediatrics, Orthopedics

My mission is to share updates about current health policy and educate physical therapists on how to advocate for their profession. I believe that the more physical therapists are aware of these topics, the more access patients will have to the health profession we are so passionate about.

My other interests include painting, video games, and taking care of my dog (Shelby) and tortoise (Tobi).

I am excited to learn with you as I share my knowledge and experiences on professional advocacy. Feel free to open up a discussion with me by leaving a comment or sending a DM.
